(25,183 posts)CBS trying to shake down people for monthly money to watch Star Trek, or Disney ruining the Star Wars franchise.
I used to like them both.

(38,958 posts)I wasnt really ever that much into Star Wars so they can do what they want with it. That saints I know both of them are certainly gaming they system to pad the shareholder report.

(38,325 posts)Our television plays DVDs and Netflix, that's all it does. No broadcast, no cable, no satellite.
Netflix is close to pushing the limit on what I'll pay for subscription television so it's not likely I'll see Picard for a few years. The only reason we started with Netflix is that one of our adult children is a fanatic about low and medium budget television and movies who set us up with that.
I still haven't seen the other CBS streaming Star Trek. Maybe it will show up in our library.
The "reboot" Star Trek movies are generic action-adventure garbage that ignore the intrinsic optimism of Gene Rodenberry's Star Trek. One of the few optimistic scenes in the rebooted films is that Kevin is still not wearing pants and Star Fleet accepts that.

(25,183 posts)I really only liked the first three Star Wars movies, Jar-Jar Binks was a bit too much to take. By the Clones movie, I stopped watching.
But, the first Disney-made film, they recycled the plot from the very first one, including the Death Star and its path to destruction! They spent a bundle on CGI, locations, costumes and props, couldn't they come up with a few bucks for a brand new script?!
By the 24th Century, I hope that pants will be optional.

(35,445 posts)In three of them, they blow up a Death Star. That should tell you all that you need to know about the entire franchise.

(25,183 posts)Or did I? It might explain why I pretty much watch only news, some politics, and sports.
