(6,831 posts)7. I did not know that bats could swim.

(11,107 posts)11. I was curious why a bat would swim.
Why not fly over the water? Was this bat hunting? Was it injured?
Turns out bats drink water "on the fly" and sometimes misjudge and go in the water. This can be a problem if the bat lands in a swimming pool from which it cannot climb out.
