Wild animals being wild animals seems to be a surprise to a lot of people.

for endangering a child. They were entirely too close to that animal. The girl could have been killed.

That girl does a flip in the air and lands on her feet. I'm impressed.
My understanding is that bison have poor eyesight, and rely mostly on sense of smell. Maybe someone in that group smelled threatening to him, and he went after something he saw moving. The charging buffalo in, "Dances with Wolves", was trained with cookies.
