Ah Doc, all of us amateur pickers are going to miss you.

You had an amazing sound, an extraordinary influence and a gentle spirit.

I'm glad to say that I heard you live on more than a few occasions and it was always magical. Thank you.

Doc was one the all time great flatpickers. Great legacy of music and his influence on Bluegrass is immeasurable.

Safe passage, RIP Doc.

I learned to play the banjo from Earl's book, "Earl Scruggs and the Five-String Banjo" and listening over and over and over to the "Foggy Mountain Banjo" album.

I spent hours and hours listening to Doc, trying to get his guitar licks down.

I've spent more hours just listening to Doc and Earl, just soaking up the richness of their gifts.

Doc was such an influence on me, and on all the guitar players I've tried to be just like.

There's one heckuva big ol' jam in heaven today.

God bless you, Doc, and Earl, and Doug Dillard too. Watch this clip and bow your heads for Doc and Earl ...
