(8,203 posts)But in AZ, you know what to do...open the gas cap..wait twenty minutes..and then go on your way....that happened....

(60,010 posts)shall file that away. But a 20 minute wait next to hot cement and traffic does not sound safe in those temps.
Fortunately, in our well deserved retirement, we no longer HAVE to drive, except groceries, a couple miles down the road.
We are having heat warnings in LA ( lower Alabama) with heat indexes from 112 to 115. the humidity is awful this time of year, even tho we welcome the occasional rain shower to help cool the air down a bit.

(8,203 posts)in East Mesa --measurable, couple weeks ago..but, been at least 4-5 months..
Since retired, you bet, couple miles that is it..I do go out to the west valley, to visit son and DIL, about 65 miles one way..I usually stay overnight..dinner and such..once this summer - too hot..and traffic, OMG, doesn't matter what day, or what time of day..I keep asking..where they goin'..where they coming from..and the road construction..talk about watching ADOT for what route to take..
What is different this year, we have not had the terrible dust storms..last year it was just about one a week..
BTW - when you are stranded, and know, through process of elimination, what the problem is, 20 minutes is nothing,,we never leave the house without a small cooler of water too..happy to share info..
Your heat sounds much like ours..humidity and dew point are up as well..at least it isn't buggy..

(14,118 posts)was to move out of there in 1973 and I've never regretted it. Here in Albuquerque it can get hot/100 degrees but we have air conditioning in our apartment and the air in our used Chrysler Town & Country works just fine, city or highway, so we manage. (My old Toyota had air but it was only useable at highway speed since it overheated in city traffic within 5 minutes.) I still welcome a cloudy day and find that trees in the WalMart parking lot provide welcome shade. To me an outside temperature of 70 degrees is just right!
