Suggestions for All-in-One Printer?

My Epson inkjet printer is about seven years old and I want to replace it with something new.
I’d appreciate suggestions, trying to keep it under $75.

I rarely use it, and have used it via a USB cable instead of wifi.

Not looking for anything fancy.

for each printer you consider. For some the cartridges cost more than the printer.

It's free for people who don't print much. Then look at their all-in-ones. I have an Envy 4500. I have had it quite a while. I'm sure I paid less than $75. I have had some issues, mostly caused by not using it much, customer support has been good.

The free plan requires an eligible printer, WiFi and only allows you to print 15 pages a month. Unused pages do NOT roll over. You can google for more info.

I've never printed over 15 pages a month.
Well, maybe once in 10 years.

Thanks. I'll check it out.

and sometimes getting fake cartridges with little or no ink.

We recently bought one of the Epson "Eco-Tank" models that has a huge ink supply that you refill. Cost somewhat more than the $75 you are seeking, but depending on how much you use it, it may pay for itself in ink cartridge savings pretty quickly.

We got the Epson ET-2750, and it's been working perfectly for about half a year now. Easy to set up, wireless works very well, and the print speed and quality are very good.

We got ours at Costco - I just checked and it looks like they don't currently have this model (at least online - they may have it in-store). Here are the ones they do have now:

Here is the one that we did get, shown on the BestBuy site:

Once I found the cheapest ink package, I located the models that matched. I found an HP at Costco that was in your price range to match.

Good luck.

It does what I want. Costs around 50 bucks so I even bought a new one when I needed ink since the ink is about the same price. The maintenance program tells me that I need a new black cartridge but I'll keep using it until I have to replace it... so far so good.

I've had one for a couple of years and love it. I was an HP person for many years but the last couple were total crap. I spent more time trying to solve issues than actually printing ... of course zero help from HP.

I buy ink on ebay, a little cheaper than retail and I only buy the colors I need.

I got a year or more ago. Cost about $50.00

According to the staff at my local Best Buy the free/guaranteed ink thing makes no sense unless you print a LOT. If I have a major print job, as in over 40 or 50 pages, I go to one of the several office places and do it there. Faster, more reliable. Meanwhile, I can print and copy and scan to my heart's content.

I will add that I'm old enough that I never quite get over that I can own such a thing as my printer/copier/scanner. Oh, and when I was first in college in 1965, a photocopy cost 25 cents per page. Which is something like two bucks per page today.

Please read Copies in Seconds by David Owen, about Chester Carlson who invented photocopying. It is the first invention since the wheel that does not depend on earlier inventions or technology. Carlson grew up in grinding poverty, and when he was in law school in the 1930's could not afford to buy law books. He figured out a way to use plain paper to copy existing text. Then couldn't get major corporations to buy his machine. In fact, by the time the first photocopier was made, his original patent had expired. Honest to god, this is an amazing story, and I cannot photocopy anything without thinking of this. So read the book. There will be a quiz.

Oh, and when the first photocopiers that had been placed in offices to see if the were feasible, when they were removed after the trial period, they basically had to pry secretaries off of them because photocopying had so profoundly changed office work. No more carbons!

I had a couple very simple printers, but both failed when I removed a paper jam the wrong way. If you don't pull the paper out exactly as the instructions say, the print heads get damaged, then the printer is ruined. Even clearing a jam the correct way ended up causing complete failure. I thought getting a better model would resolve the issue, but it didn't. The higher end all-in-1 also had a similar issue.

Bought a Brother printer a couple years ago, 4800 series. It works great, ink cartriges simple to install, drawer for paper, easy to use control panel and easy to install. Also wi-fi capable. It was less than $100. Prior to this, had a series of HP printers that failed if paper jams weren't cleared the right way.

Here's a link: https://www.brother-usa.com/products/mfcj480dw

Maybe can't tell from the picture, but it's pretty compact. The ink and paper are accessible right from doors in the front, the paper drawer is better, imho, that just paper on an open tray.

Previously owned a Canon, a HP, and an Epson, each of which died after a few years.

I finally decided to bite the bullet and make an investment in the Brother at about $275, and have never regretted it. After three years, not a moment of problem or difficulty. Prints, scans and transmits flawlessly. Replacement ink cartridges - for both black/white and the 4-color - run about $39. and last well.
