THE FILM WHICH YOU ARE ABOUT TO SEE IS AN ACCOUNT OF THE TRAGEDY WHICH BEFELL A GROUP OF FIVE YOUTHS, IN PARTICULAR SALLY HARDESTY AND HER... BROTHER, FRANKLIN. IT IS ALL THE MORE TRAGIC IN THAT THEY WERE YOUNG. BUT HAD THEY LIVED VERY, VERY LONG LIVES THEY COULD NOT HAVE EXPECTED NOR WOULD THEY HAVE WISHED TO SEE AS MUCH OF THE MAD AND MACABRE AS THEY WERE TO SEE THAT DAY. FOR THEM, AN IDYLLIC SUMMER AFTERNOON DRIVE BECAME A NIGHTMARE.
THE EVENTS OF THAT DAY WERE TO LEAD TO THE DISCOVERY OF ONE OF THE MOST BIZARRE CRIMES IN THE ANNALS OF AMERICAN HISTORY.

(16,616 posts)This is a pretty old movie, as you might be able to tell from the phraseology of the hokey opening.

(16,616 posts)I remembered that the movie took place around this time of year and looked it up. That opening "warning" is so hokey. When I was really young I thought this was the scariest movie ever.

(2,820 posts)I remember the radio commercials for that movie scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. But then again my older brother took me to see one of those American International "Poe" movies and I spent the whole time hiding behind the seat in front of me.
When I saw Part 2 I kind of liked it and often will repeat a line from that movie to people who have no idea what I'm talking about.
