(31,518 posts)he heard the word bath. He was an outdoor farm dog and only got bathed a few times in the summer with flea & tick soap and he hated it. Once we got him scooped up and in the old wash tub, he would tolerate the indignities, but as soon as it was over he would spend a long time rolling around in the grass.

(38,317 posts)He melts into the floor and becomes an immovable object.
That's sometimes preceded by cries of "NOOOOooooooo!" but mostly he's completely limp and silent when he REALLY doesn't want to do something. He won't even look at you.
We got him at the animal shelter. Huskies can be wonderful YouTube stars, but they are not easy dogs.
Our husky digs giant craters in our backyard.
He's the only dog I've ever known who has the persistence to dig up gophers.

(31,518 posts)in til the puppies were born. (Dumping unwanted pets in the country is quite common. Detestable, but it happens.) She was a nondescript white hound looking dog with a pink nose. Not attractive at all, but sweet natured. She had a good looking beau, however, because the pups were all longer haired in a variety of colors. We found homes for as many as possible and took the rest to a shelter in town for adoption.

(38,317 posts)But they can't keep all of the abandoned pets who end up on their doorstep so they have to take them to the animal shelter, which is what the thoughtless people who abandoned these pets should have done in the first place.
Some of the sweetest dogs I've ever known have been "not attractive at all."

(11,028 posts)She would hide, but once she was found she'd go straight to the shower for it. She was also great at passive resistence, she'd sit down so you couldn't wash her rear, or press up against the wall so she couldn't be washed on one side.

(5,810 posts)If he saw anyone pulling out the washtub, hed army crawl off to the shed and hide underneath. All you could see was his front paws, his nose and two soulful eyes staring out at us. Hed have to be ordered out, which he did very, very slowly, as if that was going to solve his problem. The bathing itself was a challenge since he was straining and struggling to get out and away. So the job was usually done as quickly as possible and still get the job done. Once it was finished, wed try to towel him dry but then hed run around the yard like a maniac, rolling in the dirt and grass. He was happy as a lark once he was set free! At least he smelled better and most of his white fur was a bit whiter. The black part didnt matter so much. 😂😂😂

(4,555 posts)likes to roll in stinky stuff so, in the summer at least, I hose her down. Immediately afterwards she tears around like a maniac just like yours. Funny thing, she is always in the river or slough on a warm day but hates baths.
