Any block along Geylang Road in the evening is going to be infinitely more interesting than Clarke Quay.

Use the subway.

There’s a temple in Chinatown that has one of Buddha’s teeth.

Singapore is an “Asian starter country”. Plenty of weird stuff but with English spoken everywhere and a 7-11 on every corner.

Get to the airport early for your departure. The airport is kind of amazing.

But no. They really are all over the place. Loving it here. Apparently hot and humid is a matter of perspective. Cooler and drier than where I’m from.

of the diversity of the city. Then you can focus on what sites you want to explore in more detail after that.

Some favorites: Chinatown - especially grocery stores and pharmacies full of exotic wonders (but mundane to the locals).

Open air markets - near the (must-see) Buddha Tooth Relic Temple mentioned by other poster. Great items like cheap pearl necklaces.

Asian Civilizations Museum is fantastic.

Although touristy, the historical Raffles Hotel, where the "Singapore Sling" was invented is quite a scene - fun to spend a couple of hours there -- it feels like a set from film noir with the hypnotic ceiling fans, and people in their tropical "Sunday best" sipping drinks and chucking peanut shells on the floor.

I would avoid Little India - waaaay too much traffic and much better to go to India instead!!

Sooo much to do in Singapore. Have a blast! Changi airport is considered the best airport in the world. Nothing like LAX, LOL.

-on edit - I think it's against the law to chew gum in Singapore

incredibly cheap especially compared to Honolulu. metro subway is fab and cold and goes everywhere. the architecture is awesome and they are really into green green green. several ethnic neighborhoods worth checking out are the real china town, little India, and the arab/muslim quarter. it is spotlessly clean and very safe tho not as much as tokyo.

again, hot and humid, you walk 30 feet and the sweat will pour. also this time of year is forest burning in Indonesia across the waters so the visibility may be poor with lots of brown haze.
