(63,221 posts)I rarely eat them, they are such a fattening, decadent treat, but they are such great comfort food!
Where I grew up there was a small Polish community and some older women sold fresh, genuine pierogis so my mother would occasionally pick some up for dinner (my favorite were the potato, sauerkraut or mushroom). She would saute them in some butter and onions and serve them w/ sour cream on the side.
I haven't had them in years, but I would kill for some right now! Might have to take the plunge and settle for some frozen ones this weekend!
