There was a very grumpy bull near where we used to play at the creek. Many dares were made.

Close to the woods. Sleds in the winter time. Avoid the creek if you could.

Funny, our parents never gave us a thought, playing in the woods all day.

I was with a group thay went skinny dipping. I kept my trunks on.

But the rest I have done.

Don’t like marshmallows tho. So didn’t like s’mores.
PS. Back when if you fell off a jungle gym you hit pavement.

We also went to the playground “unchaperoned” until the street lights came on.

If the football or baseball went over her fence she would raise hell if we climbed over to get it. Hmmmm...maybe we should have used the gate.
Four square was a great game.

If I had gone skinny dipping, I'd have been flayed alive!

Three good friends and I used to go see the band Phish a lot when we were in our late teens/early 20’s. Always took a red gym ball and chalk so we could play 4square while tailgating. We made many friends (and a few enemies, lol!) that way.

I have been chased by dogs plenty of times. I only had a horse bite me and another one stepped on my foot and refused to get off. I had to take my shoe off and hop away. I did sneak out for a smoke as a kid, but it wasn't tobacco. I hate tobacco in all of its disgusting forms.

Onto the playground gravel. Multiple times. I aspired to be a monkey bar olympian.

Luckily my cousins and I survived with no major damage - we were so lucky~

Playgrounds are not safe places.

They were especially unsafe 60 years ago - glad they have improved their equipment over the years.

i hated it and spit it out. Did all the rest, some of them lots of times.

All those were my experiences and I had others...got brushed off a horse under a tree, hid my favorite shoes out by the school bus stop and took off my hideous oxfords so I could look cool.

my cool smoke and I sure wish I could come out in the open with that.

we only had a well... and I ate Smores and jumped rope and fell from a jungle gym (that hurt)

(and I'm still afraid of cows), skipped school by pretending to be sick, did everything else. So I'm calling it 9 points.

my grandparents cows were always super gentle and ran to see us for a treat and say hello.

Plus pine cone fights in the chalk gullies.

I got more than a few scars that way.

I was kind of pushing it on farm animals. I used to run around and under horses in Colorado and was freaked by headless chickens running in circles. Tipped over cows in Oregon and a girlfriend got kicked by a mustang when we wee walking from border station to border station, Guatemala to Mexico.

Was not seen by me until I was married, walked out to the chicken pen with my husband and MIL.

Watched them go in, each grab a chicken. Suddenly 2 headless chickens were running around. Innocent that I was, took me a minute to realize what happened!

My Dad was a Farmer but I was never allowed to see him chop off a chicken head on a block.

I never did the last three.

No 4sq when I was a kid; I'm too old.

Yes to ALL others - except, I never skipped school unless I was sick.

I skipped school quite a few times, once while being scolded by a middle school teacher. I simply ran away, jumped the fence, and that was that. I spent the rest of the day poking around in the nearby creek.

The school called my mom in a panic and she told them something like, "Oh, don't worry about him. I'm sure he'll be home for dinner." And I was.

I was a danger to myself and others on the jungle gym.

I never got past the second square in four square. My great grandma had a crab-apple tree. I never have seen any point to wearing clothes when swimming. Everything is going to get wet anyways.

Roosters are the nastiest farm animals I've been chased by. Some of those little fuckers are MEAN!

I wasn't a very exciting kid. But crab apples were great! I'd eat them now even.

1. Fell off jungle gym (or some other playground equipment - highly likely. We lived 8 doors down from the elementary school I attended, and we were at the playground all the time, unsupervised. It would never have occurred to my parents to sue the school district or town if I'd gotten hurt. (late 1950s-early 60s)

3. Drank out of a pump - I still love the sound of a squeaky old-fashioned pump

4. S'mores - a few times/ nothing that I crave and like a few other DUers here, not a big fan of marshmallows, altho they are better partially burned and melted than "raw."

5. Skinny dipping - only once, as a young adult, coming home after an exhausting 3-11 shift in my first hospital nursing job on an non-air conditioned unit in a hospital built in 1925. I was still living with my folks, and it was our own back yard above-ground pool, so not very daring.

Played Four Square - Check. In elementary school.

Fell Off A Jungle Gym - Check. It wasn't a jungle gym but monkey bars. I decided that I was going to jump ahead a few bars, completely missing the bars and fell flat on the ground knocking the wind out of me. It hurt like hell so I'm counting this.

Ate Crab Apples - Check

Drank Water From A Pump Or Well - Check

Jumped Rope - Check. About once a year in Jr. High, we had to perform jump rope routines with the music of our choice for P.E. class.

Snuck A Smoke - Check. Older kids would offer me cigarettes to have someone else to smoke with. The funny thing was, is that I didn't know how to inhale.

Chased By A Farm Animal - I've never been chased by a farm animal. Any takers?

Went Skinny Dipping - Check. At 16,17, and 18 years old, I had no qualms about going skinny dipping.

Ate S’mores - Check. My favorite thing was and still is plain old campfire roasted marshmallows.

Skipped School - Check.

Helped being raised rural with farm, animals, and orchard with immediately major creeks and wild and scenic river crossing the ranch. Plus a mother who thought skipping school was fine if you were hunting or fishing or mushrooming etc. with her. Plus both parents smoked Lucky Strike no filters (and later each had lung cancer).

Smoking killed one of my grandmas.
