Bed Bath and Beyond Insanity

Went to Bed Bath and Beyond to get a wedge pillow. Checked out the various products and their prices and settled on a wedge pillow with the very reasonable price (for a piece of triangular foam) of twenty dollars. Carried it by hand up to the check out where it rang up for over one hundred dollars! I told the clerk "The price beside the wedge pillow was not one hundred dollars." He replied "Of course the price next to the product was not the price for this item. This is a deluxe item' (or something along these lines). I reply "Well, I don't think I need a one hundred dollar pillow." As I was exiting the store he called out (in a snippy voice) "Ma'am, please take your shopping cart outside." Someone (not me, I carried my merchandise by hand to the front) had left a basket near the check out. I turned to him and said, as sweetly as I could "It isn't my shopping cart. But if you need someone to take it outside I will."

Never in a million years am I going back to the Bed Bath and Beyond where they freely admit that the prices next to the merchandise are not the prices of the merchandise--and then get snippy when you object to this bait and switch.

As for the pricing, it's very possible someone, an employee or a customer, put the pillow back in the wrong place, hence, the response "the price next to the product was not the price for this item". It was simply in the wrong spot. I don't think they were implying that BB&B's policy is to intentionally place products on shelves with the incorrect pricing. I've shopped BB&B many times and never found that to be the case.

The clerk could have been more polite to you, no question about it and apologized for the misunderstanding .
