The base station connects to the cell via bluetooth and then you can use the extension phones. I'm thinking of giving up my landline and something like this would be a big help. I make calls almost exclusively on my cell at this point but if I'm back in the den and the cell is laying on the crap-catcher table in living room or something, I never make it in time to answer. Having a few extensions around the house like I do for the landline would solve some problems like that, if there are no big hiccups with the technology. Particularly, I'm hoping there aren't any issues going back and forth pairing with the phone system and pairing with the hands-free system in my car.
Here's one I'm looking at: https://www.vtechphones.com/store/pd/2331/DS6421-26-one-DS6401-16-3-Handset-Connect-to-Cell-Answering-System-with-Caller-ID-Call-Waiting

(4,112 posts)Once you pair it, it's pretty seamless. The Bluetooth connects automatically when you're in range and the extensions ring when the cell does. I'm no tech guru, by any means, and it was relatively simple to set up.

(1,752 posts)when you leave your house, and then when you get back you dont have to do anything to re-connect them - or do you?
I looked into this once but no one could tell me how it worked. I think someone at cell service provider (consumer cellular) told me that Id have to pay an extra charge for an extension line - why? How would they even know I was using it?
It sounded like a lot of hassle. Good to hear that maybe it isnt.
I chronically lose and misplace that dang cell phone - I really detest it but need it for travelling. This would be just the ticket - if it works. Let us know how it works for you OP.
