The Raymond Burr part was not part of the original movie, and was tacked on to gloss over the subtle dig at the US’ use of atomic bombs against Japan.

See if you can find the original with English subtitles, a bit of a different movie.

It was the original Japanese movie, without Raymond Burr..and...for the record, Shin Godzilla got the equivalent of five academy awards...but what ever they are called in Japan.

it's really too bad that Toho Studios decided to not continue the Shin Godzilla story with a sequel. i think they could have done some interesting things with the way it ended.
