and I was fascinated. I think they can run at about 65mph or something near that. But, as mammals, they are not configured to do that for great lengths of time. They run in spurts that only last a few minutes.
Funny thing about speed, it diminishes maneuverability, if the target veers off their trajectory, they can't adjust at such speeds. It's that way for peregrine falcons, they fly so fast - up to 200mph - that they can't swerve when their prey do. Pigeons can just flip over in flight and avoid a strike from a falcon.
