Miz t. insists mayo on her hot dogs.
I say mayonnaise (thought I couldn't spell it, didn't you? ) is for 'most' sandwiches, as an ingredient for some salad dressings, and as a dip for French Fries.
Try it.
But mayo DON'T go on a hot dog.
Ever.
Now...this isn't about all the other condiments and accouterments you may like to pile on.
Onions, sauerkraut, relish, jalapenos, chili, cheese, avocado, cilantro, Marmite...
Et cetra, ad nauseum.
Just stuff that come prepared out of a bottle or jar.
Thank you.

(1,495 posts)My mom used to make fried hot dog sandwiches when i was little and she'd toast the bread and cover it in mayo. My love of mayo started at an early age

(8,492 posts)...and I'll put mayo on my friggin' hot dog if I damned well want to. Got it?
Mayo, ketchup (NOT catsup!!!) and onion, to be exact. I don't like that unnatural looking yellow shit that some people call "mustard". I'll go for a good brown mustard, occasionally.

(6,581 posts)There's only one way to have a hot dog -- K, M, pickle relish, sweet onion, and coney sauce. And, it better be a good hot dog, like a Hebrew National or a Koegel's. Ball Park or Oscar Mayer -- yuck! Worst of all, my sister brought a package of Eckrich hot dogs over a few weeks ago --tasted like chemicals to me, so vile I couldn't eat it after a couple of bites.

(5,364 posts)Mayo smells bad enough. It sure doesn't need to be heatet/liquified on a hot dog for it's aromatics to become more disgustingly pungeant yet. Cole Slaw is worse yet, it's already liquified runny mayo.

(13,603 posts)ever set foot in Costco without getting my polish dog! It's the best deal in food service. I've got it scarfed down before I put my cart away. if you've timed it right Saturday when the grazing is good at the sample booths, you've had a pretty good lunch topped off by the dog and soda.

(33,688 posts)Buy only Kosher beef hot dogs. Nothing mysterious or questionable is allowed into a kosher dog. Nothin' - only real cuts of beef, salt and spices. Yum.
And no wiseass questions about why there are no kosher pork hot dogs.

(55,016 posts)only with all the other stuff on a Sonora Dog.
The basic make-up of a Sonoran hot dog is a bacon-wrapped hot dog shoved into a soft Mexican roll topped with pinto beans, chopped tomatoes, onions, jalapeno sauce, cheese, mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard. They usually come with a roasted chili on the side sometimes even with roasted green onions.
There are many variations and these hot dogs continue to evolve. It is rumored some Tucson vendors have even started topping theirs with crumbled potato chips. In Mexico, the variations become more elaborate with the option of chorizo, sour cream or crema, avocados, pineapples and more.
Some stands here in town use regular hot dog buns. However, many feel the roll is important for the true taste experience. Usually its a Mexican bolillo roll (pronounced: bo lee yo roll), that is sometimes steamed to make it extra soft and fluffy or its toasted. The roll is so soft and fluffy, sometimes they seem to go down like cotton candy.

(14,400 posts)in your BBQ sauce down there?
If you can make mayo the basis of a BBQ sauce I think you'll put it on damned near anything.
That being said, I love white BBQ sauce on grilled chicken.
I don't put mayo on my hotdogs but it goes on my burgers and I dip fries in it. My French wife got me addicted to the fries dip.
Unless it's a chili dog.
Then, chili.
