You could have been me in an earlier stage of my life, so I'm going to surmise and assume several things about you based on this note.
That mile-wide romantic streak you have is going to bring you a lot of misery in your life as you learn that "meet cute" stories and movie depictions of the guy getting the girl of his dreams are labeled "fiction" for a reason. But that romantic streak is okay; don't let life rob you of it.
Be patient; you're going to grow up a lot and gain a lot of perspective in the next 10 years. There will be at least one (and probably more) unrequited crushes that will be the biggest mistake you never made. Katie might be that one or one of those. She might instead just be a fond memory when you're in a nostalgic mood in the years to come.
This one is going to hurt, and thanks to the internet, it will pop up from time to time and remind you of Katie's rejection. I got nothin' for you on that; the internet wasn't around to memorialize my romantic pratfalls. Give yourself a break even if nobody else does, and try to develop a sense of humor about it.
