Man And Cat Locked In Tense Battle Over Who Runs The Household 🤣

"I definitely did not expect him to outsmart my husband."

BY STEPHEN MESSENGER

A few years back, Nicole Jones and her husband opened their hearts and home to an adorable orange cat named Carrot.

What they didn't expect, however, was that a hilarious little power struggle would soon unfold as a result.

Though Carrot was the newcomer, it didn’t take long for him to exert authority over the household. The rules, it seems, simply don’t apply to Carrot — and he’s not afraid to let that be known.

“He opens the cupboards and steals food out of the pantry. He knocks all of our magnets off the fridge,” Jones told The Dodo. “He also takes food right off our plates as we are eating.”

Carrot is shameless.

Jones, for her part, mostly seems to find amusement in Carrot's wily ways. Her husband, on the other hand, hasn't been so quick to give up control to the cat.

"He is constantly chasing Carrot around the house trying to get him to stop doing whatever he is doing," Jones said.

This battle of wills is ongoing between Carrot and Jones' husband, but she recently caught one particular tense moment on video. In it, the two were locked in a standoff over whether or not the blinds should be open.

And, well, here's how that played out:

"I definitely did not expect him to outsmart my husband and open the blinds he couldn’t reach," Jones said.

In classic fashion, Carrot had proven yet again who's boss.

Life with a furry little would-be dictator isn't all about butting heads, of course. When not testing the limits, Carrot likes to remind his family how much he really cares.

"He is a very sweet, loving boy who loves to cuddle," Jones said. "But he LOVES getting into trouble."

Looks an awful lot like our dear old Fisbin, still missed...

They have their own special willfulness.

And their own special sweetness.

So many wonderful flavors of cat, but ornjboi will always be a favorite with me.

nostalgically,
Bright

Right now I've adopted a patched tortishell with tabby stripes

And she has an attitude that she's in charge

My Orange girl was a lover, this beast just wants to play 24/7

and pattern. My last was an orange male. So loving and cuddly that I nicknamed him Mr. Love.

Current cat is female tortoiseshell tabby. Strong willed. NOT a lap cat. Into everything. Defies all rules. Then, just when I'm most exasperated, she turns on the charm. Rubs her face against mine and purrs. Curls up near me and rests a paw or her face on my arm (which is the closest she ever gets to being cuddly).

When she was adopted she was 1.5 yo and we have zero idea what her life was like before, she chews on everything and uses her teeth a lot on us but does not penetrate the skin

She wants to "play" constantly and is very rambunctious, she has chewed up items from mail to anything that looks like string or a shoelace

She's not used to people food at all and will chew through plastic bags to see what's inside

She's a handful but she's found her forever home, she is loving the petting more and more each day now

Children....

a coworker. Her littermates wete already gone - too soon to separate them. The household she came from was very hectic - kids and visitors in and out constantly, a dog, and an older cat that attacked my baby so that she buddied up with the dog for protection. The coworker did not know how to handle kittens and roughed up my girl in "play" so strongly that she was afraid of human hands.

She has such pretty markings that the coworker wanted to keep her for breeding, but was moving to a smaller place and could not keep all her pets. Good thing too because my girll"s mama was barely over a year old and this was her second litter. She was exhausted and skittish, ignored her kitten except for feedings.

So it took time to socialize my kitty. When I tried to pet her, she cringed snd immediately went into fight posture. Now she is 4 years old and nudges me to be petted. She is smarter and more agile than any cat I have had. She is clever and entertaining. I feel like I rescued her from a bad future if she had stayed with her birth people.

...in this temporary cardboard carrier they gave us.

And he kept trying to squirm out of the carrier to see what was going on... this little nose would poke out, and then the face...

...and in my mind, I heard Shatner's voice saying, "Oh, look at that! You've got a Fisbin!"

Thus his name, and very appropriate it was.

Still miss him...

reminiscently,
Bright

No, not a new baby in the house - worse, a stray cat walked in one day, got sympathy and food, and decided to stay.

Except he wakes me up at 5 am for feeding. Licks the back of my head. But he's getting tamer, he used to wake me up with a gently stroked paw, with claws extended.

He eats, goes out or back to sleep. Me? Can't get back to sleep. Thanks, cat.

Do I need to say what color he is? Just look at the first picture. Glare and all.

The reason I’m up right now. He started howling downstairs like someone was murdering him.

So I jump up to stumble down and check on him. He was sitting by his bowl. Hungry. 🤦?♀️

I’m very well trained.
