It's 6:37 a.m. and it's coffee break time while I write this post

My wife and I spent a chunk of yesterday making side dishes and desserts of the the Thanksgiving dinner today so the kitchen needed some TLC.

So far today I've:

Emptied out the dishwasher that I put running last night before going to bed
Loaded it back up and put it running
Hand washed the items that couldn't fit in the dishwasher or wasn't dishwasher safe
Bagged the garbage and put it out on the back porch
Made coffee
Wiped down the kitchen counters
Put food and fresh water for the dog
Put the extension leaf in the dining table
Put the two extra chairs to the dining table

Taking a break now and sometime after 7, I'll be bringing the bagged garbage to the storage building, snowblow the driveway and feed the birds and wild turkeys.

Dinner isn't till 5 so we have lots of time to roast the turkey, make the mashed potatoes and finish up the deviled eggs ,pineapple/pretzel salad and set the table plus do some light house cleaning.

I guess you are a bit more productive than I... But, in my defense we had two FEET of snow Monday-Tues and it was HEAVY shoveling. So, I have earned my "lazy"...

(only 4:30 AM where I am so I have another hour before I have to get serious)

Hint, hint!

I did all that you did, as well, except the driveway and the turkey feeding. (no snow here in NE Ohio)

My hubby is laid up with a sore foot .... So it's all on me this year.

Dinner at 5. Already made pumpkin pie, peeled potatoes for mashed and stuffing, have bread dough resting.
Gonna be a sad holiday I think. My daughter told me she is probably leaving her husband after the holidays. 3 little kids. They’re not going to ruin the holidays for the kids. He’s a nice guy but I see her point of view and don’t blame her. Hope it stays civilized. He will be always be a good dad. It’s just going to be really hard for the kids and luckily we live nearby and will always be here for them.

1/2 cup sugar

Directions

Combine the cream cheese and 1/2 cup sugar into a mixing bowl and beat until the sugar is well mixed into the cream cheese.

Add the whipped topping and crushed pineapple and beat until mixed evenly. Store in refrigerator.

Preheat over to 425 degrees

Melt the butter and add 1/2 cup sugar. Stir till well mixed.

Add crushed pretzels and stir together till well mixed.

Spread mixture over a cookie sheet that has sides and bake in oven for 5 minutes.

Remove and allow to cool.

Break pretzel mix into small pieces and mix into cream cheese mixture just before serving.

My wife is often asked to make this for funerals, birthdays, baby showers, weddings and so on.

We had about 20 for dinner about 5 times a year. I never slept, not for days ahead of time while my husband woke up and said, "You're welcome! We love doing it" every time while I was elbow deep in dishes.

This is the first time in a long time we are going to a relatives house and all I have to do is bring a gift and help with whatever she will let me do.

Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Big family get together for Thanksgiving yesterday. Including my wife and I, there were 22 people here. Ranging in age from 8 months to 92. To limit damage caused by the toddlers and for their own safety, I had moved most everything breakable from the foyer and living room into the office and put up the baby gates to keep the toddlers in that area.

This morning so far I've:

Taken down the baby gates
Cleaned up the toys and put them away
Put the items back in the living room and foyer
Emptied the dishwasher that was run last night
Reloaded the dishwasher and put it running
Hand washed the big pots and pans and what else that couldn't be put in the diswasher
Put the garbage out on the street for the garbage man
Put food out for the wild turkeys
Started a shopping list
Made up a things to do list for today
Made coffee
Put food and fresh water out for the dog

It's now 7 so time to wake up the wife as she and her dad is going to visit her mom today who is in the hospital. I'll be woking on my things to do list today.

Put away the dishes in the dishwasher and dish drainer.
Washed, dried , folded and put away two loads of clothes.
Made the bed.
Cleaned the kids folding table and chairs and put them in the craft room.
Boiled down the turkey carcass and stripped the remaining meat off the bones. Disposed of the bones.
Removed the dining table leaf extension and put away the two extra chairs.
Took the big old foot locker that was on the foyer stairway landing and put it in the storage building.
To make room for the Christmas tree, I moved the baby changing table to the foyer stairway landing.
Checked the mouse traps in the attic. One mouse caught. Disposed of and reset trap.
Brought down the Christmas tree and window candles from the attic.
Put up the Christmas tree and plugged it in. All lights work.
Fed the wild turkeys a second time. I feed them three times a day when I can.
Watered the house plants.

After my break, I'll fix the bottom drawer of the baby changing table.

Yesterday one of the things I did was boil down the turkey carcass and remove the bones from the meat to make a turkey soup stock. Today I'm making turkey noodle soup for dinner.

So far today I've:

Made coffee
Rinsed, peeled and chopped carrots, celery and onion for the turkey soup and added 4 cups of chicken broth
The turkey soup is simmering on the stove top
Put food out for the wild turkeys
Put food and fresh water out for the dog
Paid the gas and electric bill for the small house.
Updated the December budget and bank register to reflect the recent payments

After the veggies in the soup are soft, I'll cook the noodles in a separate pot and then add them to the soup. In about 1 1/2 hours, I'll be leaving for the feed store to get more oats and whole corn for the turkeys and black sunflower seeds for the other birds. Also will be getting 5 gallons of gas for the snowblower.

Finished the turkey noodle soup
Got the mail from the post office.
Deposited money at the night deposit at the bank.
Dropped off some donations at the local St. Vincent's store.
Shopped at two stores.
Picked up a part at the hardware store.
Checked the small house. Everything is okay.
Went to the feed mill and got sunflower seeds, oats and whole corn.
Got 5 gallons of gas for the snow blower.
Put away groceries, the gas, and bird food when I got back home
Filled the bird feeder.
Fed the wild turkeys 3 times today.
Fixed one lamp in the living room with the part I picked up at the hardware store.
Shook out the kitchen carpets and swept the floor.
Scrubbed the kitchen floor and put the carpets back when the floor dried.
Cleaned the kitchen counters.
Polished the stainless steel appliances in the kitchen.
Put a timer in for the Christmas tree.

Unless an emergency comes up, I'm done for the day.

Unless it's all hands on deck, people don't realize how much work a Thanksgiving dinner is. There are so many things to do that are tangential to the food.

I'm sure your family appreciated it and that makes it all worthwhile, though.

20. Didn't get out of bed till 7:45 this morning
Sun Dec 1, 2019, 05:02 PM
Dec 2019

Although I was up for a couple of hours starting at 2:30.

Put food and fresh water for the dog.
Swept the snow off the bird feeder and bird cake holder.
Shoveled a large area at the end of the street to put down the food for the wild turkeys.
Snow blowed the driveway.
Put away the dishes from the dishwasher which I ran when I was up during the night.
Hand washed the remaining dishes and put them away after they dried.
Made a tuna salad.
Cleaned off and refilled the bathroom and kitchen sink hand soap dispensers.
Vacuumed the carpets downstairs and upstairs.
Cleaned out the email in box.
Fed the turkeys 4 times today as I'll be gone much of tomorrow.
Swffered the laminate flooring.

An overall easy day today. The turkey noodle soup I made yesterday was excellent and we'll have the rest tonight. I made the tuna salad as we'll be gone to get my wife's mother from the hospital and it's a 4 1/2 drive round trip plus the time at the hospital so I won't have time to cook.
