...and on my local (Buffalo, NY) NBC affiliate they are carrying that Betty White/old pranksters reality show, followed by Up All Night etc.
Double-U Tee Eff.
Is it on your affiliate?
I know NBC Sports Network carries the games not carried on the main network (which are most games), but if they have farmed out coverage to their specialty sports channel in this situation, it's the first time I can remember that a Stanley Cup clinching game wasn't carried on NBC itself. Imagine the outcry if the equivalent game in the NBA Finals on ABC was farmed out to ESPN and not shown on the main network. Hell to pay, I would think.

(3,112 posts)I'm busy watching the game on NBC Sports or whatever it's called. Lotta people pissed that this game ain't on local 4, though.

(14,176 posts)It's on the NBCSports channel. It's something of a slap in the face to the city IMO. yeah, the Lakers are king here, but they could show the Kings game AND show almost all of NBCs prime time lineup, too.

(29,322 posts)Games 3 & 4 are on NBC Sports Network and it's been that way since it was on Versus. Last year's Stanley Cup games 3 & 4 were on Versus which is now NBCSN.
It has nothing to do with LA. It is on NBC SN EVERYWHERE and this is what they have done this year, last year, and the year before that. Ever since Versus(which is now NBCSN) was a major player in airing NHL games.

(3,112 posts)And the main network has always carried the game when a team could potentially clinch the championship. It's just that this is the first time in recent memory that there has been a potential clincher in a game 4. I can't remember the last time this happened in the Stanley Cup finals.

(29,322 posts)Game 4 would have been on Versus. Game 3 & 4 being on NBC SN was known MONTHS ago. Don't worry Games 5, 6, & 7 will be on NBC.
Here are the terms of NBC SN purchase of Versus
*Continued sharing of the Stanley Cup Final on NBC (which will air Games 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7) and NBC Sports Network (Games 3 and 4)

(3,112 posts)Wow. I guess Gary Bettman didn't have much choice but to accept those terms if he wanted to be on NBC at all. Chances of a 4 game sweep are generally slim enough that it probably will go longer and therefore NBC will carry a clinching game 5, 6 or 7. But I bet the NHL was sweating it last night, and pulling for the Devils to grab that win.
