Two coworkers died within the last two days

One was in his late 50s. He had cancer and died from complications from chemo. He was going to retire within the month. The other was about 80 and just died at work in his chair. He had retired many years earlier and had come back and forth doing various contractor positions. He was a nice guy that everyone liked. One minute he seemed fine, the next he was gone.

do you work in a large place? were you close to them?
for the second guy, i have to say that's more or less the way i want to go. not necessarily sitting at my desk at work, but, quick. and 80 seems plenty old to me, i guess because in my family most don't make it nearly that far.
for the first guy, sad irony. never quite got to retire.

The first guy I used to work with closely, but he transferred to another job and I hadn't talked to him in years before he got cancer. He seemed to be doing OK, but the chemo knocked down his immune system and some type of untreatable bacteria infected his brain. The 2nd guy I spoke to quite often. He always arrived to work early and enjoyed coming in every day. Although he was around 80, he seemed to be in good health for his age.
