(20,260 posts)I didn't realize how strong I'm not.
I experienced delayed complicated reaction. Maybe this is grief. August started hitting me. Reading how it works won't help me. I may need to have conversation with a couselor/specialist. I'm not the tough cookie I made myself out to be.
I don't want much from life, never really did. Was pulled along by things temporal. Vain. Seeking after materialism is deception. The rush/pleasure is fleeting. I am grieving that we both chased after stuff. Empty stuff. I put myself on a new path hopefully to redeem our combined behavior in the years we were together. Wasted money, time. How could I have allowed that to happen.
Your reply in unspoken simplicity touched my heart. 💙

(20,260 posts)really brought strong memories from younger and bright days. Not entirely carefree, but nothing close to the last decade or so.
I have to remind myself this is my life and parts of it are quite wonderfully memorable to revisit.
However, given the climate today of what we are witnessing in our nation...so seriously disturbing. I have not given up entirely on an expectation, hope if you will. Otherwise, I simply don't know anymore.

(24,772 posts)My husband and I married on 9/21. I didn't know EW&Fire's song "Do you Remember the 21st Night of September..". Our daughter thought it was so funny and asked if that's why we married then! I didn't know the sing, though I had an album of theirs.
Music is the best of humanity.

I wondered if the classical geniuses ever envisioned how many would appreciate and be moved by their musical gifts repeatedly so far in time.

(54,437 posts)I have been with my wife for 45 years now.
We met when we were 22. The *click* was so intense, you could almost hear it.
My world would end if I lost her.

(54,437 posts)As for us, heart issues a couple of times (me), cancer issues (twice with her) and serious thyroid tumors with her (twice also) have not exactly given us a free ride, but we're still around to tell the tale, and that's worth a lot.
Thanks for your kind words!

I experience personally as a recipient, the toxicity coming forth at the minimum from November 2016 and which, is quite evidently affecting many of us.
Be well and stay safe.
