Perhaps an impromptu rescue and he didn't have one with him?

This wasn't too far from me. We've had some very frigid and snowy weather up here in Northern Michigan. It came early in the season, too.

(34,458 posts)ran the ferry across Lake Charlevoix for years and years. In fact, he made Ripley's Believe It or Not for "traveling more than 10,000 miles without being 1/4 mile from his home" back in the 1940s.
I'm in Lansing now, but I have fond memories of northern Michigan.
