That my Mom was regularly at cocktail parties with him. In Ohio where he and his brother went to college. How could she not have told me this????

My father worked at a bank and the owner ($$$) would have the kind of corny, people in suits, cocktail parties you only see on retro TV shows and movies. Just hobnobbing with Rod Serling.

Specifically, he would cruise to Hibiscus Harbor (about a half mile from our summer place) and hang out there.

I think he might've already been ill by the time I came around (early 70's) so I never saw him in his boat.

I still remember the day he died. His camp was almost directly across the lake from us and, as a 9 year old, the thought that the scary dude from TV died *right across the lake* from where I was (he actually died in Rochester) made me sleep with an eye open for a few nights.

what an honest person and light years ahead of his time.
And very self deprecating and funny.

She was a little older than me, was all into horses. And I do remember when he and his wife came to visit since there was kid of a fuss. He was a small very tan man in a bright yellow sweater.
