I guess Father Ted has been shown on a few US channels. That's certainly up there as well.

(24,146 posts)i watched a few episodes with my husband and i loved it. it's up on netflix, i'll definitely watch more of it.

(12,008 posts)but that shouldn't detract from how hilarious it was at the peak. There aren't many shows that can be at the top for very long. One thing I find interesting is that successful shows in the UK may only be on for a short time before calling it quits, in contrast to US shows that run forever. I guess I'm glad that there's loads and loads of Cheers, for instance, but so much of that was running on its reputation from the early years.
