...I went through a MAJOR J-Pop phase in the late 90s / early 2000s.
Nanase Aikawa, MAX, Hitomi, Noriko Sakai, Seiko Matsuda and more.
I named my cat Seiko as a result.
So I translated the lyrics of songs I liked, and along the way, picked up some conversational Japanese along the way.
I don't use it much these days, but yes...back then...I could more or less hold my own with pleasantries when the occasion arose.
