A rant: Krinkle Kut 'French fries' are an abomination!

They are NOT 'French fries'.
Not those delightful shoestring, crispy outside, creamy inside pommes frites.
Krinkle Kut fries are NOT crispy!
They are MEALY.
They are the lazy cook's 'fries'.

I will not eat Krinkle Kut fried potatoes and you can't make me.

talk about lazy cookin' lets wedge a whole potato into like 6 or 8 fries and basically serve a dry baked potato to a diner who wants FRIED thin sticks of crispy goodness

also keep your gross dry huge potato butt home fries and give me real crispy HASHBROWNS!

actually I have had decent crinkle cut on occasion, but in general I am with you, trof!

Crinkle cuts are particularly good with gravy (former Baltimorean here 😀 . But I do prefer the thin cut fries for just eating. And I don’t do ketchup 👎

they're freezer-burned and they seem coated with some sort of funky substance that leaves an oil slick in the roof of my mouth after I eat one. I can't figure it out because it's just the way they're cut. They're worse than a mealy apple.

Same!!! I hate crinkle cut fries! I’ll opt to get some other side every time if I see that’s what comes from the restaurant.

Restaurant owners threatened, cursed at for changing shape of French fry

https://www.sfgate.com/weird/article/French-fries-Maine-Bolleys-crinkle-cut-threatened-13159177.php

The owners of a Maine hot dog restaurant say they have been cursed at, threatened and treated hostilely after they switched their menu from crinkle-cut French fries to straight-cut.

Leslie Parsons said in a Facebook post last week that she knew that some customers would not appreciate the restaurant's decision to go with the alternate potato cut, but she was not prepared for the extent of the rancor of "some pretty disturbing and hostile customers."

"I just want to say I will absolutely not tolerate being sworn at, threatened physical harm to myself, my husband and children. It is unacceptable here at Bolley's and should NEVER be tolerated anywhere," Parsons wrote.

The crinkle cut had been the traditional deep-fried potato of the Waterville restaurant, but Parsons said shaping it required a cutter with "ridiculously pricey and flimsy blades." After spending "thousands" on blades, she eighty-sixed the crinkle.

The answer for me commercially is available to you at home...if you like McD's fries you need to buy Oreida Fast Food Fries. In an actual deep fryer (375 degrees until they float) they are perfect or sprayed with olive oil in an air fryer at 14 minutes at 400 degrees they are pretty good. Just saying I know a lot about fries and this is my advice.

They also re-heat better, in case you have leftovers and want to have some with your eggs the next morning.
