The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsYet another thank you for the hearts thread ... I thought I wasn't going to be posting this.
Our household has been enduring tight finances for the last few years, and lots of non-essentials have been dropped one by one. I've missed several DU fundraisers over the years and figured I'd surely be missing this one too. But just got in before the end.
I'd been feeling pretty glum -- not because of the overwhelming cowardice which Uglican Senators exercised to the max, that was more or less expected by that point -- just the overall situation, the economy, the pointlessness of a job search, no sign that things would be getting any better before 45 is cashiered, and, oh yes -- family problems. Seeing an occasional heart show up next my username was a balm and a salve, especially when the count surpassed my old record. In the last couple of days the family issues have partly resolved themselves, with the result that I'm getting some money without anyone having to die so I could inherit it, which had seemed like the only hope (if that's the right word). So I made a small donation and gave out a few hearts. Hope I'll be able to do more next fundraiser; finances are a lot better off now but not completely resolved just yet. Who knows, I may end up actually able to donate to a candidate or two before it's all over!

(36,263 posts)Seriously, I only gave out about half as many as "usual" (meaning usual when I was working). And I was in too big a hurry to keep careful track of who I gave them to, so I missed some folks I would have hearted otherwise.
