Randy VanWarmer
(sometimes Vanwarmer, Van Warmer; March 30, 1955 January 12, 2004) was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. His biggest success was the pop hit, "Just When I Needed You Most". It reached No. 8 on the UK Singles Chart in September 1979[3] after peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100[4] and No. 1 on Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks[5] earlier that year.
In line with one of his greatest loves, some of his cremated remains were sent into space in 2007, and then again in 2012 aboard the first successful private space flight to the International Space Station, the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.[10] ....
Death
VanWarmer died on January 12, 2004, in Seattle. He had been suffering from leukemia for the previous year.[11] He is survived by his widow Suzi and his brothers Dave, Mark, and Ron.[12]

Now that I'm aware of it, seems like nobody who would sing it could mess it up.

*sigh*
Sometimes I miss the days when all you needed was a good song and the ability to deliver it live in one take.

(4,122 posts)8. My friend and I have an ongoing argument over whether it's better to be a one-hit wonder
or to never have charted at all. He claims it would be too frustrating spending the rest of your life trying to duplicate your success, but I think there must be great satisfaction in having written at least one song that people carried around in their hearts for awhile.
