When rescuing a bird (or animal), always cover its head with a loose cloth if possible as it calms them down. When removing fishing line etc, always check to see if it has cut into their flesh as it can do so very deeply if it has been worked back and forth. If so, try to locate a wild animal rescue centre or vet rather than releasing it.
I always pick up abandoned fishing line if I spot it (and those damned plastic 6-pack holders).

(23,808 posts)I am so happy when there are rescues, but think of the many, many more that are never rescued. Humans are so kind, but then there is a segment that just don't care and dump their trash in the ocean. Let them rot in hell.
