I'm so bummed... But also annoyed this isn't being taken MORE seriously by & large

I was supposed to start up a 6 week class series next weekend.

Now It's over before I even put up a single flyer.

Not only is it a loss of revenue, I was really looking forward to using a new community center space and meeting new folks. I work as a freelancer and can use the connections as well.
So This weekend I am working from home fior three clients and using the phone for questions.
Then I have to figure out if I can re-tool the class and try to do it virtually.
so, yeah, bummed.
BUT I am staying home before it's mandated because I am a risk factor and a autoimmune suppressed person...take no chances, right?

Here's where it gets annoying:

*That there are still friends who think we can hang out at their or my place cuz it's not public.

Um, kinda defeating the purpose of isolation, duh.

*That there are some shut downs of Public Facilities, but not of others...giving people the impression it's still okay to go.

It's like laying a piece of swiss cheese over the problem.

*I even had one client...who is in her 70s BTW, say that I can just wear a mask and wipe stuff down but I should still come to her house to work.
I'm staying away for her sake as well as mine! Hell, she's still going out and about her daily stuff...she could just as easily give it to me, geez!

This whole thing is such an interesting study of psychology and human nature and sociology.

Maybe when I'm bored I will do some reading up one the Spanish Flu and how different the society was or how similar were our collective reactions....

My son just stopped by with some items that he wanted me to have. He gave them to me in my driveway, and I stood six feet from his truck while we talked.

He started getting ready for this hell well over a month ago. I've been pretty good at stocking up on things for years, so I'm better prepared than a lot of people.

When he started getting ready, people at his work laughed. They called him an "alarmist". He told me that yesterday one of the people in the office was in tears because she didn't have things she knew they'd need. Like my son said, saying "I told you so" does no good. But he had warned her.

She was going to go at the same time and get her filling done too... now she's upset I am not going to drive her... I told her if she wants to go its on her.

She lives across town and goes to the community college, so it's not like she's living with me and going out and bringing back germs. But even by just driving her and staying in the car, I feel like that is still exposure both ways...

Stay well we are all in this together now

His wife, my daughter-in-law, is taking it even less seriously than he is. There's a good chance I won't be seeing them for quite awhile. I've got a daughter who is having a lot of health issues and leans on me heavily. I'm going to try to keep myself as healthy as I can so I can help her get through everything she's facing. I just can't afford to take chances by being around someone who is cavalier about this.

"...we are all in this together now." - That's what I just told my sensible son who stopped by.
