I haven't been anywhere for a week. Had to spend the last two days indoors
because of wind and rain. Rain and wind gone this morning. New snow on
nearby Miller Peak, and the small creeks are running. The wettest winter I
can remember in my 40+ years here. (SE AZ)

construction of that school.)

(1,787 posts)Where a car lot was the last time I was there (2004 or so.)
I graduated back in 1973 and I had two older sisters and an older brother who also graduated from there.
I have an uncle who still lives there and has for over 50 years.
And I had a cousin who lived there and passed away last year from lung cancer. RIP Steve Denman.

(54,437 posts)I have been nowhere since Sunday. Now I know what "house arrest" is. Or retirement. As far as I'm concerned, there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference. I was supposed to be in Paris today, but the French have sealed off the border for anyone deemed non-essential, and I haven't been able to convince Macron that I'm essential (so far). Merde!

(25,816 posts)She's the business manager for three radio stations here in Sierra Vista, and most of her work can be done on the computer except for going to the post office.
But I use a whole lot more firewood when she stays home. Not complaining
(groan) too much.
I was wondering about you since so much of your work seems to involve
a lot of traveling. Now's it going in Europe?

(54,437 posts)Here in Germany, the border to Holland is still open, and the border between Holland and Belgium is still open, so if I REALLY needed to go to Belgium, I could run over to Holland and catch a train down to Sprout City from there. Tedious, though. I can't get to Switzerland or France. Spain seems shut down, too. I am lucky I got back from Madrid last Sunday. I don't go to Italy much at all. The Italians I work with are happy to meet me in München or Zürich. They had 475 new virus deaths in Italy just YESTERDAY.
The health department will test you if you have the right symptoms and seem to be on death's door, but normal mortals have little chance. I just turned 68 (this morning, as a matter of fact) and was in Spain recently, so my wife wanted me tested. The only problem with that is that there is no place that will do it. We supposedly had 600 new cases diagnosed on our state just yesterday, but just where those tests were done, no one seems to know.
My job does indeed require me to be in a different country every day. Needless to say, that is one requirement I have been unable to fulfill this week. It would not be unreasonable to suspect that the schedule facing me when this is over will require a few 20 day workweeks.

(25,816 posts)We went to a couple of stores. No TP, no beans or rice.
We got some paper towels at Fry's (Kroger) and a loaf of bread.
Lots of bread and there was very little last week. Yeah, and beer.
Fruit and veggies and some cleaners.
No large packs of water so we got a six pack. I have a well and the
water actually tastes good, but it's quite high in calcium and lime.
We'll be OK for a couple of weeks.

Her family are vegetarians to varying degrees, so not anxiety producing for her. She got me a pack of chicken breasts, what I needed.
