Just realized I was an asshole today. Was in the vegetable section of the grocery store.

A guy was getting onions and using a plastic bag to do it. I walked passed him to get at other onions. He dropped his onions and left. I was wondering why. I was closer than 5 feet. I'm the asshole. Good wake up call. I did refuse a ride home from a friend of my dad's. He insisted. I refused again and again. At least I got that part right. What a wake up call. Coronavirus must be fought against 24- 7.

again, I hope you will move away and do what you need to do to protect yourself.

We can't know who has it so we MUST assume everyone has it.

I live in a hot spot. I would have hesitated to react 2 weeks ago because of social norms and manners. Not today.

And in a month, everywhere will be a hot spot.

I was pleasant and said, "Oops, I forgot we're supposed to be 6' apart. Sorry". No one even considered 6' distancing and they were not very friendly after I said that. I was apologizing to them for not social distancing . I asked one woman to move her cart a foot. She glared at me, didn't say a word and slowly moved her cart 5". I could go on and on.

You realized your mistake in getting to close and will be more mindful going forward. And you are a big enough person to admit you made a mistake.

Social distancing is something we need to get used to, it's not a behavioral change you do automatically.
Yesterday, I went to buy some groceries and a young guy walks by me and just as he was in front of me, he coughs with his mouth open. There wasn't even an attempt to cover the mouth. It didn't sound like a flu cough but it was still a wtf moment for me. It's amazing how unaware some people are given the circumstances.

too close to me. I asked her if she could please back up because she was too close to me. I didn’t say it in an aggressive way. She took offense and kept saying, “well, you are in the store” (meaning if you want to be careful you shouldn’t be here). I said that I was sorry if I offended her, I just wanted to maintain a distance from others of at least 6 feet. She really wasn’t impressed with my apology. It was unpleasant and I will not be going to the store for a while, maybe not for a long while.
On the other hand, don’t beat yourself up! We are dealing with something so foreign and new, we all are having a difficult time figuring it out. Be kind to yourself and stay well!

She said there were 4 employees constantly disinfecting. She felt safe. Then an "older woman", or maybe she said old lady, came up to her and said she should not be out, she should be isolated. As she put her hand on my daughter's arm.

As a not quite as old a lady, I told her to run from them, you know, they know not what they do. We are socialized to be use touch to calm others. The woman meant well, showing my kid concern, and then used touch. I have asked my daughter to not go out any more.

but I guess a guy in the store this morning was not. We were approaching each other in a wide main aisle and would have had 2-3 feet between us but he made a sharp turn into a frozen food aisle. I realized after I went past he came back out and continued in the direction he had been going.
