So bored today

I never thought about this side effect of working from home,, but I don't feel like I am getting any days off.

That's because I am still in the same spot as when I was working.

Tomorrow morning I will fire up my work laptop in my living room, work, then at 5 o'clock I will turn it off.

AND I WILL STILL BE HERE...

I don't know. I guess I'll start playing all the Civilization Games I have in order (II-VI, i don't hae a copy of the 1st civ game)

That should kill a week or two

A yard, a balcony, a deck? If so, it can help a lot just to get out and breathe! Good luck!

that's what we made mini-unblock read when he called covid-19 the "boring virus" because he was so bored. we figured that would give him some perspective, a kid his age, trapped in an attic, no internet, unable to make much noise for fear of getting found and taken away to a concentration camp.

by comparison, we've got it good.

that said, i hear ya, i'm in the same boat, working from home. what you save in commute time is offset by internet lag and other practical inconveniences not being able to deal with problem face-to-face with a whiteboard, etc.

but all things considered, i'm glad technology is making this far more manageable than it would be otherwise.

my sympathies for people who are out or work, especially because it's next to impossible to look for a new job under the circumstances, if there even are any to be had at the moment.

3. Think of how much worse it would be without internet.

Mine went down earlier today, only for about 30 minutes, but I was panicking a little, Mainly because it is also the source of our phone, (we are very rural and cell phone doesn't work up here, near Lake Berryessa in the bay area) and I would not be able to telework next week without it.

My office needs me to be able to telework right now, I'm the IT support for about 100 people, so it is critical that I'm able to be there to help all the other teleworkers (which is the entire office basically).

I have many other things I can do without internet, but the work situation and telephone situation was what was freaking me out.

I'm so grateful to still have my job (and paycheck). I'm so grateful that (so far) I am not sick and did not give it to my 78 year old mother who lives with me. I am extremely grateful that I don't have to do that horrible 2 hour (each way) commute to San Francisco on public transportation! I have a lot to be grateful for. I feel horrible for the people who are losing their jobs. I would be panicked, because I am the only wage earner in our household. We need to help each other as much as we can to get through this. I hope that congress does the right thing and get help to our citizens who are facing these dire consequences to the corona virus.

Even different iterations ... gameplay is pretty similar among them.

Do you have Steam?

The learning curve is pretty steep on a lot of newer games.

Maybe I'll dig out the Purple Lunchbox and have a Resident Evil 4 marathon

7. So you're okay with shooters?

Dude ... you gotta play Prey (2017 ... though the 2006 version was great too).

I'm not gonna say it's Half Life simple but it's pretty easy to pick up and the tutorials as you go along are decent.

And it's probably cheap right now. I've played thru the whole thing 3 times, I have like 200 hours in it.

Epic, awesome game. And you don't need a killer GPU for it or anything. What do you have?

I'll look it up.

As for shooters, I have nothing against 'em. RE 4 is my favorite from back in the day but I played Doom and Duke 'em as well

Although it took me a minute to get used to the over the shoulder offset view of RE 4 when I 1st played it, I prefer it now.

The regular FPS view where it's supposed to depict what you'd see looking over the sights - Those we nothing close to accurate depictions of aiming and shooting either.

But the "Immersive Combat games" kinda leave me cold tbh. I'd rather be on a straight up Zombie elimination run
