(7,631 posts)I take a softened package of cream cheese and mix it with some salsa. I only add salsa and nothing else to the cream cheese. I don't measure the salsa because I always go by the consistency, I don't like it too thick or too runny. I pour the mixture into a casserole dish and top it off with Mexican shredded cheese. I don't, but other people will add diced green onions and diced tomato after adding the shredded cheese to make it look pretty. It's going into my mouth so I don't care if it looks "pretty". BTW, this chip dip is addicting and this could be made with sour cream instead of cream cheese, it depends on the cooks preferences.
Here's a general recipe and a photo to make your mouth water.
1 package cream cheese softened
¼ cup sour cream
1 Tbsp mayonnaise
¾ cup mild salsa
2 green onions cut thinly
1 small tomato chopped small
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
1. Beat cream cheese using electric hand held mixer until soft and creamy.
2. Add sour cream and mayonnaise, beat until it makes a smooth texture.
3. Add in salsa gradually until you get a salmon color.
4. Spread mixture into shallow platter.
5. sprinkle with tomatoes and green onions. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
7. Serve with tortilla chips.
