The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI talked myself out of a great idea.
Since we're all cooking our own meals I thought it would be a great idea to have two cooking shows. One that targets the large family unit and offers easy to make, inexpensive meals. They can do it in real time so you can record to follow after you buy the ingredients.
The other would be for those who want to learn bargain basement gourmet. Or at least, reasonable cost meals, but maybe a higher level of difficulty.
But then it occurred to me that everyone would buy the featured ingredients and there would be a run at the store, creating more shortages.

(102,286 posts)given my years of constant dieting. Now, as long as I include one meal that I both really like and rarely tire of, I'm fine. Cooking, though consists of what I can make in the Instant Pot, blend, microwave or throw together as a fresh salad or similar.
I'd guess that few would want to spend quarantine with me at my house...LOL

that there would be shortages. Hate to say it, but I am taking to it. As they say, better late than never.

(86,646 posts)I got wrangled into cooking in a kitchen once and got well known in my little town and was often asked to cook for restaurants and caterers afterward.
So, if you can make sauces, you can master almost anything. Sauces are soups and gravy and spaghetti for a few examples. Sauces are so easy, you can make them from almost anything and they go on or in anything.
