In my heart surgeon's office to see if the leakage they found last month will
require me to be cracked open again.
.
My cardiologist doubted it, but said the surgeon would have to make the call.
.
Surgeons like to CUT. It's what they do.
.
DREAD is the word I feel right now.
.
.
.
And hungry. I skipped breakfast.
.
.
.
Hoping the only followup care I need after the appointment is a sammich..

(24,931 posts)Surgeons indeed like to cut.
Patient: "I have a terrible head cold."
Surgeon: "Well, lets just open you up and take a looksee."

(149,678 posts)Damn it, I thought the scan showed a very minimal leak, not worthy of cutting you open again!
Grrrr.
I hope that surgeon decides you're OK.

The good news is that I'm not the best candidate for more chest-cracking surgery.
All the complications and re-opening and pectoral-flapping (no, Hopehoops, I did
NOT say pecker-fapping) means that, while additional traditional surgery is possible,
it's not really desired.
.
There are alternatives to surgery -- microsurgery via catheter up from my femoral
artery (groin-cuttin' is still certainly all cringe-worthy and shit).
.
The leakage isn't bad enough for that... yet... but they're consulting with the
specialist here who does it and will set up a plan in cae I get worse over time.
.
So... so far it's, "You're... OK... but let's keep an eye on things."
.
.
.
Which is EXCELLENT news for me!!!

Thank you again!!!

(8,492 posts)Not great, but good. Can I stop worrying for a minute now? I'm sick of clicking on this thread and wondering why it took you so damned long to fill us in. You were doing it on purpose, weren't you?
Go eat.
I hope the not eating was for the exam, because keeping blood sugar even is kind of important, isn't it????
Kali
(55,019 posts)I guess. sounds like you REALLY need to pay attention to when you are starting to feel less than "normal" (I know, not a word anybody connects with you, but you know what I mean)

And, if they wind up having to do the catheter surgery down the road, just look at it as a two-fer: valve repair and a bikini wax.

WAY too much sodium for one meal, though, so I stopped on the way home for
a can of Del Monte Diced Tomatoes w/garlic, oregano and basil. Makes a GREAT
light pasta sauce traight outta the can and there's no salt added (a RARITY for
"pre-spiced" foods), so dinner will more than counterbalance the high salt content
of lunch.
.
My intense spate of follow-up doctor's appts is OVER for now... so I can relax
and stop trying to be so damned organized and punctual and shit for awhile.
.
Life is GOOD!!!.

But you knew that.

I actually got TWO cans of those tomatoes. We're talkin' tasty stuff here and
each can has enough "sauce" for two meals!!!
