Four positive COVID-19 patients today.
Fuck.
So far, all are asymptomatic and feeling fine.
But it's been a rough week, and I just hope I don't unwind so fast that it injures someone...

This country is so full of disempathetic people...

(11,802 posts)Seriously. No man SERIOUSLY. I dont know how you do it my friend. You are one of the bravest, selfless people I know. I dont know how you face this day after day. You are an angel among us brother and Im honored to know you.

(66,388 posts)My next project is a bottle of Woodinville Bourbon, distilled far away from Appalachia, in the heart of apple country, Washington State.

(11,802 posts)Ive moved away from bourbon in the last few years to Irish whiskey and micro distillery rums. Definitely tryBlackheart. I know the low price may be a turnoff. But Im telling you man. Delish.

(66,388 posts)I used to dislike bourbon, or thought I did, while my brother thought to himself "More for me." But I've really come to enjoy bourbon lately. Just finished a bottle of Old Forester; terrific. Smooth, pleasant, a nice way to end the day.
I'm still a single malt man, though; the peatier, the better; like a good bottle of Lagavulin. It smells like a campfire when you crack the seal.
Nothing like bourbon out of fire charred oak barrels, thats no shit.

I'm open to suggestions as to specific brands or flavors diffused in the liquor.
I'm having Skyy vodka mixed with cherry-passion fruit juice tonight.
Aristus
(66,388 posts)Go your way and get a good bottle. Of the spiced stuff, I mean. Clear Bacardi-style rum sucks...

(112,252 posts)I used to mix that with 7-Up when I went to some parties after I graduated college. I had a 1974 Monte Carlo so I would keep a blanket and a pillow in the back seat in case it was needed and the campus cops never bothered me.

(112,252 posts)I don't handle my alcohol as well now that I'm approaching 55 than I did when I was in my early twenties.
The nice part was that I could mix up a drink in a plastic cup and walk around the frat house or outside to the dorms nearby without any hassle. I had platonic relationships with a group of four girls in one suite. One weekend, two of the girls were out for the weekend so they allowed me to stay in their room for the night, so my last dorm sleepover was at the ripe old age of 34.

(112,252 posts)The liquor store that I frequent is small so they may not have it. I might have to try a larger chain store like Spec's in College Station, but that would also entail a bus ride and I haven't even gotten aboard a bus in the eight months I lived here. Thanks for the suggestion.

(66,388 posts)Kept me out of work for about ten days. I was tested for COVID-19 and it was negative. Had a taste of self-isolation while I was at it. I don't know what the Trumpanzees are complaining about; I enjoyed the break.
But work is taking its toll again. I don't have it as bad as the emergency room and urgent care providers. A patient died last week of liver failure. As usual, the hospital where he died sent me a perfunctory "Oh, by the way..." note. That's always how I find out. I've got another patient who doesn't have long.
As always, my DU friends keep me sane and encouraged...

Losing patients has to be difficult for you, try to hang in there.
