if someone tells me they're ignoring me. The way i figure it, at least I'm not going to waste my time and energy writing out a reply to someone who's not going to see it or reply back.

Except sometimes someone will say they're ignoring me, but they are either not telling the truth, or they do but take me off ignore because they can't stand not seeing what I might be saying to/about them

I've never put anyone on ignore though. I figure if they offend me I can offend them right back.

I just 'ignore' them, de facto, as we attorneys say, but a good number just don't want to look at me, I guess!

I don't ever put anyone on official ignore. I just don't respond to them.

At least, I never have yet. I don't even know how it would work and how much it would affect the flow of some threads if I had people on ignore and they were in the middle of the controversy---doesn't it seem that it would be awkward????

Maybe I should put a prolific poster on ignore just to experiment. Hmmmm, who would I choose?

And what was weirder was that my post here disappeared too, since I had replied to MFM who was now on "ignore". So his comment disappeared and all other posts under it disappeared.

I don't like that. I may not like all the posters here, but I don't like not being able to see that they exist. Very odd.

I just had to laugh at that one - I even double dog dared him to put me on ignore.

FWIW, I don't have anyone on ignore, I can't see the point of it on a discussion board.

Except maybe some people don't like losing an argument. I figure I won because I doubt they would put me on ignore if they won. There are people I won't respond to because they're pretty heavy handed in their criticism, but I would never put them on ignore. I find that simply too childish.

You should feel honored.

It's like I'm being taunted. I've tried to use it a couple of times over the years and I ultimately give in and take the offender off the list. I will admit, however, to using the "hide thread" feature a fair amount--especially when there's some story that has a kerjillion threads going at once and all of them are essentially full of varying forms of outrage and angst.

I dunno if anybody has me on ignore these days. I guess I should check that sometime.
