Is there any reason to list someone as a dependent on my Form 1040 if...

... they don't qualify for the Earned Income Credit _or_ the "Other Dependent" credit?

It's a 25+ relative who earned a bit too much to pass the test for the Other Dependent credit. If this person doesn't net me any tax relief, should I even bother listing them on the tax form?

I presume you don't pay at least half of their support?
Maybe if you pay for their health insurance, but I'm not familiar with the rules there.

It's definitely over half.

A CPA friend has now told me we can't claim him because he earned over the (stupidly low) limit of $4200 gross in taxable income.
