The Dutch heritage is well-known--there's the fun Tulip Festival in Pella. And a strong Dutch heritage in north-eastern Iowa
And there's Norwegisn history in the state---the Norwegian History Museum in Decorah (IIRC, the most important Norwegian museum in US). And the Story City Scandinavian Days at the end of May. A Lutheran church in Ames had an annual pre-holiday bazaar where you could buy all sorts of Scandinavian baked good to go or sit and eat all you want of self-selected goodies, paid for on honor system. The local paper called the tea-room aspect of the bazaar the location of the 'social event of the year.' Starting in late summer, the church held classes to teach people how to make the goodies, then they made them for 'tea-room' and bakery sale. Anyone in town could attdnd training
