I got a Beanie Baby today at a garage sale...

The dragon, "Scorch."

(Was looking for that one for years, long story.)

I saw at eBay, that same Beanie Baby is going for $50, $75, even hundreds of dollars or thousands. Literally!

Why are so many people asking so high a price for this one Beanie Baby?

Some of them are probably just trying to get back what they paid for it.

What people are asking and what people are paying are often very different things...

I can't help but wonder, the Beanie Baby craze reminds me of the 1980's "Cabbage Patch Kids" craze.

And, it's nothing new, hundreds of years ago people in Holland went nuts over tulips the same way.
