Meanwhile in "Thighland": King of Thailand orders residents to not look out their windows
as he visits his mother.King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand has ordered residents around the Chulalongkorn Hospital to close their curtains and to not look out their windows as he visits his mother in the hospital today. Any washing that has been hung outside to dry must also be taken inside.
Further measures taken at the hospital include limited lift use and the banning of traffic around the time of the visit. All car parks around the hospital will be closed for the duration of the visit.
King Maha Vajiralongkorn is flying in from Germany via Zurich, where his wife Queen Suthida lives in a hotel, for a visit to his sick mother who celebrates her 88th birthday today. She has been in and out of hospital these last few years after suffering a stroke in 2012. The King will spend less than 24 hours in Thailand before returning home to his hotel in Germany, where he lives with a harem of around 20 women.
The King will not find a country happy to see him. There have been numerous rallies by students, almost on a daily basis. This is highly dangerous for the protesters as Thailand has strict lèse-majesté laws and any insults to the king, queen, heir-apparent or regent can result in a prison sentence of up to 15 years per charge.
