I'll start us off with one from TV that I really loved hating:
(Can you look at him without hearing the X-Files theme? I can't! LOL)

(46,337 posts)When he slaughtered that entire village of Sandpeople, including their women and kids.
I always have considered Darth Vader's "redemption" in "Return Of The Jedi" to be too fake.
I mean, even before he puts on the armor, he slaughters little kids.
Tries to kill his own pregnant wife.
He chokes a guy to death.
Chokes another almost to death.
Tortures a woman, personally.
Helps in the death of BILLIONS when Alderaan is blown up.
Lies to a city administrator.
Cuts the hand off his own kid.
And we're supposed to accept that now he's a good guy who's become "One with the Force?"
Nope.

(2,935 posts)It would have been cool if we were left to wonder whether Vader got his angel wings, but sadly, Lucas explicitly showed Anakin smiling in the last minute of Return of the Jedi.
Apparently, a war criminal can get past the pearly gates so long as he saves his own kid.

Al Swearengen: Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

(8,556 posts)He started off as a straight-up villain. But the more you got to know him, the more you realized he was just as capable of being the protagonist. By the end of the show, that's pretty much what he was. Amazing character development.

Swearengen was the dad in the series. Sometimes hard yes but more often fair and even loving in his own way.
Tolliver was straight up evil even if he had some affection for Joanie. He was the villain.......until Hearst showed up.
Swearengen is my favorite character from any series ever.
aikoaiko
(34,172 posts)I love the Swearengen character but I also found much of his behavior despicable.
The best villains are one with great pathos and I think Swearengen is full of pathos.

(34,172 posts)My two favorite villains who I truly despise but respect how well they manipulated people in a game. I hate them so much I really don't want to publicly give them credit.
Johnny Fairplay (Survivor: Pearl Islands, 2003)
[IMG][/IMG]
Jeff Probst was correct that Fairplay set-up and told the greatest lie in Survivor history (even nearly a decade later), but Fairplay was also wicked good at breaking up alliances by peeling off the weakest link and changing their votes. No one lied or manipulated weak players better than Fairplay.
Russell Hantz
[IMG][/IMG]
Russell's ability to find hidden idols was fantastic, but his vile and nasty approach of voting off anyone who started to question him was truly amazing. It worked to intimidate several groups of people in different seasons. Russell's treatment of his nephew, however, was really repulsive. I'd like to believe it was a part of his tv persona, but the impact on the nephew was real.
I would shake the hands of these men, but damn they were good at being evil.

Tommy_Carcetti
(43,182 posts)Most likely half the stuff he says he probably doesn't believe. He was under the influence of substances for long periods of his show (and who knows, may still be). He intentionally creates a narcassitic personality for his own glorification ("talent on loan from God." And he says outrageous things just to get attention and to have people talk about him.
So yes, I would call Rush Limbaugh the radio host "fictitious".
