it's been picking up over the last 20 minutes, it's red on the radar and hitting the fire. a proper fucking thunderstorm.
yes, i am concerned about the lightning and wind, but the point of this is that it FUCKIN RAINING here.
it's been at least a month since we've had any sort of rain and we haven't even had three inches all year, we should be up to eight by now. it hit 101 today.
i'm pretty sure there's more than rain on my face right now.
edit: i looked so wistfully at this tiny dot on the radar of green south of denver before i left for work. i heaved a sigh as i told myself it would never come to anything for us. damn good thing i'm not a meteorologist.

that was the worst summer last year, in all respects. i hated it.
so i am thrilled how good it feels to get rain.

I hope it rains for days!
It should really help put out the fire, or at least help bring it under control!
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)days of rain would be wonderful, but i am so grateful for the few hours we will get tonight.

(9,077 posts)Enough to stop the fires, but not enough to cause severe erosion.
fizzgig

(55,014 posts)spotted a fire on the place east and south of us - 10 miles or so, but you could sure see the line of fire. about 30 fancy homes on 30-40 acres each, all "preserved" from livestock grazing so of course it is a huge burn hazard, hopefully everybody mowed around their structures at least.
good to hear rain is falling somewhere. we had a few sprinkles last Saturday and this evening but not enough to measure (and I use a gauge that does 100ths!)
