they'd been renting a place up in one of the subdivisions since february, they evacuated a week and a half ago. found out yesterday that the place is gone. she's in germany, feeling helpless. her brother is stationed in washington and her dad is leaving for work out of state soon, so it's going to be just her mom. when i asked what i could do to help, she said take her mom out for coffee, so that's what i'm going to do.
we've been friends for 16 years and i absolutely adore her mother. i know she is handling this with grace, as she always does, but my heart is hurting for her right now.
the rain didn't hit the damn fire last night, which i am finding a bit hard to believe, but i have no evidence to the contrary at this point. the humidity did help, doesn't look like there wasn't much growth overnight and only about 1,000 acres yesterday. we lost 13,000 friday night into saturday night, slow the slowdown is good news. if anything, i think the rain just gave us a bit of a boost and reminded us that this is not as hopeless as it seems.
still nothing but hot in the forecast, but there is a slight chance of some weather moving in from the west later this evening. we'll see.

(24,146 posts)the evening report showed little growth today, but we'll see what the flyover tonight shows. the western part of the fire is going to be the hardest part just due to the terrain out there.
i'm pretty sure everyone out here is doing a rain dance every day.

(17,086 posts)But glad you remain safe! It's hard to believe, but so far there hasn't been much damage from the Weber fire - at least no structures. It's still going, though.
