1. Just went to the oral surgeon for a post-op visit.

I had the remaining four teeth in my upper jaw cut out last week and the oral surgeon said I was healing nicely. I'm somewhat relieved since I'm diabetic and my blood sugars are running high.

The only other plans for today are to give some grief to RW bloggers on the old home town newspaper Website (www.mysoutex.com). I'm having a world of fun giving them hell about the ACA being constitutional and tossing out Romney quotes likewanting more Supreme Court justices that interpret the law like Roberts. One of the running themes that another blogger and I share are to keep posting the captioned kitteh pictures to achieve maximum irritation potential of the RW blogggers. We live for Caturday!

In return for my progressive blogging, I get called a commie, socialist and liberal along with being a government sponge.
For some reason they have formed a false impression about me so the RW bloggers keep posting pictures of obese women with insulting and sometimes racist comments. BTW, I'm a white male who is about 25 pounds underweight and proud of my progressive-liberal-socialist views so the insults don't faze me. The big game that the RW bloggers play is to intimidate those who disagree with them and they also try to violate everyone else's privacy by making wild-assed guesses about ISPs, IP addresses and TSR logs.

How is that for a conversation starter on a Friday?

Congrats on getting the day off. Try to have some fun today and get away from the computer. I'd do the same, but it will probably be over 100 degrees here in Texas so I'm hibernating in the cool darkness of home.

to get outside either.

As for the right-wing bloggers: give 'em hell, TexasTowelie! Have you noticed that intimidation is the only tool they have? No reason, no logic, no love, no compassion, no true sense of community, nothing. They are cowards with guns, that's all.

3. You hit the nail on the head with that last paragraph.

That part of south Texas suffers from an intellectual void so I felt that it was my civic duty to offer opinions not taken from Faux News, Limpballs or Beck.

I didn't start blogging until about three years ago as the ACA was being debated in Congress. The first time that I wrote a response to one of the RW bloggers, I actually received some thoughtful feedback so I tried to appeal to his sense of compassion but he was so deeply mired in GOP propaganda that it was like having a conversation with a brick wall.

I got tired of seeing the anti-Obama pictures (as Hitler or the voodoo doctor) and being insulted by the trash on that Website, so I got dirty and employed some of the same tactics that they use like multiple account names, checking the thumbs up approval icon and running up the view counts on individual blogs by locking the F5 key for a couple of minutes to keep pinging the Website (which is probably a denial of service attack). The RW bloggers blow everything out of proportion of course and labelled me as a hacker! Isn't that precious?

I later learned that the publishing company for the Website is deeply tied into the GOP cabal. One of their guest columnists is an expert in the oil/natural gas industry and works as a "corporate relations" specialist for the natural gas company that ripped off California back in the 2000/2001 electricity crisis. I eventually outed him as a registered lobbyist and on the board of directors for Texans for Prosperity. Since Texans for Prosperity is supposed to be non-partisan, it was quite an embarrassment for him to be identified as a RW blogger. Apparently he was so concerned that his posts could jeopardize the tax-exempt status of Texans for Prosperity, that ALL of his blog posts and comments were scrubbed from the Website! The only way that would have been possible is by obtaining the assistance of the Webmaster to scrub all of that information, so it is clear that newspaper is complicit in the activities. Of course, we both know that Republicans aren't very good at coverups so my group of allies and I enjoyed rubbing it in.

I made three friends online that jump in when necessary when the Website wars occur and then there is another liberal who prefers to remain anonymous who also enjoys belittling Repukes. Fun times in south Texas--I don't advise going there though.

I applaud those liberals and progressives who do. Thanks for fighting the good fight against the 'baggers. Using their own tactics against them is genius.

I am now firmly aligned with liberals. Their poison pushed me into liberal positions that I never would have dreamed of promoting or defending in the past. It just goes to show that the rhetoric war can have unintended consequences!

Now I just wish that I could keep them from posting the 2008 Youtube video "7 Obama Lies in Two Minutes" every other week.
They at least need to get some fresh material (and graphics) since people have learned to ignore those posts.

I come from a family of un-reconstructed Kennedy liberals. My mother even marched in JFK's inaugural parade. (She was attending Southwest Texas State, LBJ's alma mater, at the time...).

But I did the "no, man, I'm a moderate" thing for a while, too. Election 2000 made me embrace my inner liberal, and I haven't looked back.

I started to work on my teacher certification in mathematics, but finally got a job in late November on the last day to withdraw without record. It was a shame because I had a 4.0 going that semester and my best GPA as an undergrad was a 3.47 at Southwestern University in Georgetown which is about an hour north of SWTSU (now Texas State Univ).

I still have a friend living in San Marcos so I know the area extremely well.

Everybody in my family, other than my brother, who is a successful businessman, is either a teacher or in the medical profession...

Every time an educational issue is put on the ballot, I call my mother, who is a proud NEA member, and ask her which way to vote...

I'm glad you scored a day off!

I've been pretty busy this week...I've turned into a gym rat, going to the gym Tues and Thurs. Tuesday, I worked with a personal trainer who really puts me through my paces. I want my legs and back to get a lot stronger, and she's making sure I will! Oh, and I will go work out tomorrow too...Quite a lot for this old lady!

So today I'll be at home, doing laundry, and playing on DU and facebook...and resting my slightly sore muscles!

Is Will going to put in an appearance today?

my presence was not required at work yesterday, so i just told my boss i was going to take the day off. i tried to sleep in this morning since i've been getting up early for most of the last week and my eyes popped open at 930 >_<

i'm going to go help a friend wrap up their move and then come tidy my place so the property management company can show it. i hope to hear back today on a place we applied for yesterday.

tomorrow will probably involve getting some boxes for our move and maybe starting to sort shit, get rid of shit and maybe start packing some shit.

it's still hot, hot, hot out here and i'm not particularly interested in running around, but i's gotsa get things done.

don't know if those are normal lease periods for everyone else, but it is in my college town. i don't want to move, but i want to stay in our crummy place even less. i'm hoping we can stay put for more than a year or two.

my husband works as a furniture mover, so he takes care of all of that, which leaves me to do the cleaning. i don't know which one of us has the better deal.

i fractured my elbow three weeks ago and am on a five-pound restriction lifting restriction for that arm, so i'll be in the ac doing clean up. i am hoping the heat breaks before our move because our place has been 85-90 inside during the day, i do not want to clean in that heat.

and I'm also enjoying the cool weather. I've been reading the posts from DUers from across the country who are dealing with 100+ degrees and I feel sorry for them. I appreciate our weather here -- a few hot days in the summer, but not every summer. I'm taking a day-trip to Ocean Shores tomorrow to see the sand castle competition. Even if it rains, it's a nice day-trip and I'm going with a friend who's company I enjoy. So have a good time on your day off!!!

I have never actually seen it done, but I've seen the results, and I'm sure you have too. It's the carved bears and eagles sold by the side of the road -- it's considered "art" in some circles.
