I plan to stay home on July 4th and stay cool by th ac, what plans to the rest of y'all have.

I might walk to the bridge and watch the firework from downtown but that is after dark.

I wil be frying my turkey tonight.

It is to damn hot to really go anywhere.

QVC had a really nice portable unit, that can be rolled from room to room.

That would be a nice unit to have.

If you don't need or want to cool down a whole house.

It's 89 as I post. Probably go up two or three degrees this afternoon. Seems like it's been like that for weeks.

Wally World had one window unit, but it was too big for my windows, and just too big. I guess I could order one online, but I desire instant comfort/gratification. I did see a mobile one online, but it seemed like they were charging an extra $100 for four little caster wheels.

I'll live. Maybe after the holiday.

I have the ac on 78 right now but it will be on 79 or 80 tonight.

Last night Iwas cold so I turned the unit off and fell asleep.

It was stiil cool enough this morning, didn't turn on the ac until almost noon.

After Hurricane Ike and no power for two weeks, I rather learn to handle a little more heat.

Even though the water is about 92 degrees......

And we'll have a cookout, but eat indoors. Our neighbors put on a big (illegal) fireworks show, so need to leave the house.

I will also be trying to keep one of the corgis from having a nervous breakdown from the " kabooms " all day. They already started shooting them off today. She is so scared, she won't go outside to potty.

probably going to my dad's to grill later in the day, no fireworks for us. it's dry, dry, dry and most of the firework shows in the area have been postponed or cancelled.

dad's got a swamp cooler, it'll be nice to sit in the cool. the high hasn't been under 90 but for a couple times in nearly a month, we had a week of 100+ and my apartment has been almost unbearable. at least we get down into the 60s overnight and it's cool enough to sleep.

We've still got a plastic tub full of them from previous years so I don't think I'll be buying anymore right now. I might get some tomorrow when they'll be half-off.

Right now the heat index is 119 in Northern Illinois so I'm pretty much melting. I just came in for another Gatorade before I have to head back out again at 2 pm. I usually give all the staff the day off for a holiday so I'm used to doing everything alone although its a lot harder in this heat. I've switched to the powdered Gatorade so we can drink it by the gallon

I'm just taking it very slow. Presumably I'll be asleep tonight long before any fireworks come on. This heat just knocks the stuffing out of me.
