I promise I won't complain about not having a real summer ever again! I'm wearing jeans, converse shoes and a hoodie, and I'm so happy to be comfortable.

(66,387 posts)What do you think? Should all of us from NoCal to B.C declare the Republic of Cascadia?
We are Cascadia. Way past time to declare it.

(44,130 posts)my last summer spent in Texas! I can't take the heat/humidity any longer.
Those temps would suit me just fine!

(4,056 posts)She is having major climate shock! For us, when the sun is shining you immediately go out running, or ride your bike or sit with your sweater off in your yard. We can't imagine having to stay indoors with the A/C cranked up to 11!
Edited cuz of the stupid auto correct on my IPad.

(9,900 posts)Nice.. I criss-crossed the mid-west in triple digits for weeks last month. It's good to be home for a bit.

(18,705 posts)It rained so things cooled down.
I had the ac turned off most of the day, think I might turn it off tonight.
The fans were enough.

(1,013 posts)Storms and downpours, and not one person is the least bit sad about it!
Please, be careful of heat related illnesses, the cramps(muscle and stomach), nausea, headaches, and later this feeling of being mentally loopy! PLEASE don't do like a fool I know(myself) and go along with this for a week. GATORADE, WebMD says "32 to 64 ounces" (aka for fluids and electrolytes). I still didn't catch on when the room temp was 72 degrees and it felt like 32! Three people wanted to get me to an ER, yeah, me with no insurance! HA!
The rains knocked down the outside temp so much, even I can go out and not get cramping and that headache.
Please be careful DUers!

(18,705 posts)I was young and stupid at the time.
I started to feel faint and knew what was happening finally.
I went into the house and drink some sports drink and cooled down.
It was close, nobody home but me.
Never do that again.
If you are not used to heat take care.

(53,521 posts)A Mediterranean climate with dry summers moderated by a cool ocean current.
I HATE heat. I HATE humidity. The geographic genius of the California coast is that cool current, it keeps the summers cool, unlike inland California, or the actual Mediterranean, both of which can get unbearably hot in the summer.
susanr516
(1,425 posts)but it's not abnormally hot here. Highs in mid-90s; lows in mid-70s. A few weeks ago, we had a high-pressure dome that created a rare dry heat here, temps around 105 for 2 or 3 days.
I grew up in the DFW area, so I can empathize w/the Midwest. Nothing sucks the soul out of you like 3 solid weeks of 100+ temps.

(24,146 posts)it's been mid 70s and rainy in northern colorado the last few days and it's been a wonderous break from the mid 90s - 100+ we've had for most of the last month. our yearly rainfall has doubled in the last two or three days.
mid 80s tomorrow and 90s by the end of the week. oh well, i'm glad we got a break.
I think my face melted in Chicago last week

(8,646 posts)I don't know how you all do it on the east coast and in the south. I'm in Canada and where I am we rarely get heat, and if we do, we don't usually get humidity. Right now it's 83 degrees F and with humidity it feels like 98 F. That was at Noon and since our hottest time of day is 5pm, it's only going to get far worse. I'm going to go fill some water bottles and stick them in the freezer because I have a feeling I'll need them. I know the heat here is not as bad as where some of you are, but I'm soooo not used to this. I really DO feel like I'm melting, LOL. Thankfully I have a small a/c in my bedroom I bought last week in anticipation. It's having issues keeping up already, though. Here's hoping it doesn't

(6,671 posts)probably above 100s until at least Saturday in the Sacramento area. I HATE the heat.
