I'm having a wee bit too much togetherness with the family tonight (plus the added bonus of a new puppy, which requires constant attention).

I'm happy to get losded, though.

I wonder how well I could get along in Sweden with my knowledge of German. The two languages are very vaguely related. And could I practice medicine there as a PA? Or would I have to get an MD? I love America, but love of native soil is getting to be a harder and harder reason to stick up for this country...

Dutch might be closer to German (I remember being able to pick out snippets of a friend's conversations with her Dutch husband, based in my high school German, but not enough to understand what they were saying.

I do think that a fair number of Swedes understand English, though.

And yeah, Dutch is like a combination of German and English. Makes sense geographically, if you think about it...

Right after GWB was reelected, I read up on Americans relocating to Scandinavia. My impression was that it's not that easy to move there and find work - they can be picky about what professions they allow, etc.

Obviously, if your a PA you're a highly trained professional, but I don't know how their health care system works over there - if they utilize PAs or not, etc.

I've spent all year bitching about the cold, wet weather and now we're one of the few perfect areas in the country, eh Aristus? So I'll raise a metaphorical glass.

I'd go this weekend but both the husband and I are rocking a wicked cold. But later, sounds like a great (if ridiculously expensive) way to spend a gorgeous summer afternoon. Takes twenty minutes or so and I think you can actually buy a drink.

Until a little front moved in...no rain, but lots of rumbly thunder, and the temp dropped appreciably (to 92).

The only upshot is that we haven't had to mow the lawn in several weeks.

So I can either stay at Starbucks a while longer and enjoy your company, or I can go home and have that Shiner.

And then accidentally put Caligula in the Blu-Ray player when I really wanted Spartacus instead, and stare at the screen muttering "Man, Kirk Douglas doesn't look so good in this film."

Took the better half to try newly-annointed Guy Fieri special of the Lebanese variety and got down on ALL the goodies including my first shawarma (got the combo- liked the chicken).
Then we sidetripped for some Bourbon. Had two so far, but I just found this thread and I thought I'd stop by for a chat.

Ask me anything.

From Bourbon County? Or was it sour mash?

The label sez: Evan Williams Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Extra Aged Sour Mash.
So no, not Bourbon, according to Hoyle, but perfect Saturday night elixir, mixing dark of night with light of moon.
Slant ya! I can't spell Irish, but if we keep drinking and typing, it'll slant ya.
